Hi! I'm Kirstin, creator of The Children's Sewing School.
With a degree in education and a lifelong passion for sewing—encouraged by my mom
since I was little—I love making sewing accessible and fun for children. There’s nothing quite like watching them build confidence, spark their creativity, and master a new craft!
Sewing since she was just six years old, Alcy loves pushing creative boundaries beyond standard patterns. From piecing technical, custom quilts to drafting her own fashion pieces from scratch—like recently making a mockup of technical Anthropologie pants complete with pleats, top buttons, and cinched bottoms out of thrifted bedsheets—she thrives on pure creative problem-solving. Alcy is passionate about empowering students to bring their own unique wardrobe ideas to life without feeling limited by pre-made instructions!
JAK has been sewing since he was just five years old—in fact, on his very first day learning, he spent eight straight hours diving headfirst into creative projects! Known for his inventive streetwear designs, JAK loves taking thrifted jeans, deconstructing more than one, and combining them back together to draft custom, super-baggy pants entirely on his own (and often trimming them into custom shorts later). His self-taught approach and endless enthusiasm show students how fun and limitless DIY fashion can be!
